This is the simplest Story Lite productivity software install and requires no additional files. It transparently includes what it needs from the Java Library by Oracle. It is 19 Mb.

This installer is a smaller Windows installer with no included library files. Use this one if you know you have Java Library files installed already.

Technical note – Windows Story Lite productivity software
What is the library in the Windows installer?
Story Lite is normal Windows software. Instead of using .NET or similar for the build, we have used Java libraries. This is so we can make one application and then tweak it for different platforms like Windows, Apple and Linux. Java is ubiquitous and powerful, used by Microsoft, Apple, Linux and many others. It is made by Oracle and was invented by Sun. It is a robust and universal free computer system with a Library of actions. Java is used all over the place, in your computer, car, phone, fridge.

For the technical: Java Libraries and Java Runtime Environment (JRE) must be installed for this Story Lite Java version to run. To check if you have Java installed on your system, use the above link, or type:
Java -version
in a Command prompt (Windows) or Terminal console (Mac, Unix).
Windows .NET
A Windows .NET version of Story Lite writer’s software and book writer’s software is out later this year, it has the same functions, so don’t wait around. It will be released as part of the version 2 update.
